A “slow and sustainable” approach to fat loss is actually faster than a “quick fix.”

I realize that makes no sense.

Let me explain.

Say you want to start losing fat right now, in September.

You know that taking a slow and sustainable approach will likely get you to your goal weight by around April.

But you don’t want to wait that long. You want the weight gone by October.

You hear about these quick fixes; maybe your friend did one of them and reached their goal weight in a matter of weeks. That sounds much more attractive than seven months.

Maybe you’ve done it yourself in the past.

“It WORKED,” you say. “I lost 30 pounds in a month doing keto!”

What happened after that?

“Well, I gained it all back.”

NEWSFLASH:  that means it didn’t work.

Your goal doesn’t stop at just losing the weight, right? You want to keep it off.

If that’s the actual goal, it didn’t work.

Here’s what actually happens:

You do a quick fix starting in September and lose the weight by October, but then gain it back by November. You try again and lose a little, then gain it back over the holidays. You try again in January and lose successfully, but then regain it in February. 

And so on and so forth, until it’s April and you’re right back where you started in September.

Whereas, if you’d chosen the slow and sustainable approach, you would have already reached your goal.

Quick fix doesn't work for fat loss

Yes, it requires patience. Yes, you’ll lose the weight more slowly. But if you’re going up and down with the quick fixes and not sustaining any weight loss, that’s not actually faster progress, is it?

Plus, slow and sustainable is much more enjoyable. You don’t have to eliminate entire food groups. You can still enjoy your favorite foods. You can go out to eat with your friends. You don’t have to be relentlessly strict all of the time.

Quick fixes don’t work.

Slow and sustainable does.
